SailGP has confirmed a series of multi-year agreements with host cities across its global calendar, extending the league’s presence in Germany, Australia, Brazil, the USA, the UK and the UAE.

The announcement includes a three-season commitment to the Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz, which will return on 22–23 August 2026 and again on 21–22 August 2027, following its debut event last weekend (16-17 August 2025). Sassnitz is the first German venue to join SailGP’s schedule on a long-term basis.

Elsewhere, Perth will continue to host the league through to 2028, while Rio de Janeiro will stage the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix as a new fixture in 2026 and 2027. Bermuda’s role as a repeat venue is confirmed until 2028, with dates set for May 2027. New York City will also return, hosting events on 30–31 May 2026 and 5–6 June 2027.

In the UK, Portsmouth has secured two further editions, with events planned for 25–26 July 2026 and 24–25 July 2027. In the Middle East, Dubai is confirmed as part of the 2027 calendar, alongside Abu Dhabi, which will continue to host the league’s season finale.

Earlier this year, SailGP also announced a formal tender process to identify investors for two new teams to join the existing 12 teams taking part in the global racing championship in 2026. The selection process will conclude in early September.

SailGP CEO, Sir Russell Coutts, comments on the agreements: “As we grow SailGP into a truly global sports property, these long-term commitments with key venues are a critical step in delivering a world-class experience year after year.”

Alongside elite racing, the series brings benefits to tourism and economies. Coutts adds: “SailGP delivers far more than epic racing — it brings enduring economic and social impact to its host cities. Nine in ten fans at our Portsmouth event were out-of-town visitors, with half of these staying for three nights or more, supporting local hotels, restaurants, and businesses. With consistently high net promoter scores and global broadcast reach into 212 territories globally, SailGP offers incredible visibility and value. Repeat host venues benefit from even deeper legacy opportunities, a more sustained marketing program and long-term community engagement.”

The 2026 season will begin in January in Perth and will run through to the Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix in late November, with 13 events scheduled. The 2027 season calendar has also been partially confirmed, featuring Sassnitz, Rio, Bermuda, New York, Portsmouth, Perth and Dubai among its venues.
